Neighborhoods

I’m looking for apts, ideally 1 beds, I have a budget of $5K.

I was aiming for west village, noho, soho, Greenwich, and I have found absolute shit for $5K.

I started looking at DUMBO and I found really nice apartments for $5K, and I’m starting to consider it.

Any recommendations? Thoughts? I work in MIDTOWN

Based on the most helpful WSO content, your budget of $5K for a one-bedroom in neighborhoods like West Village, NoHo, SoHo, and Greenwich Village is indeed tight, as these areas are known for their high prices and limited availability. It's not surprising you're finding it challenging to secure a quality apartment in these locations.

DUMBO, on the other hand, is a great alternative. For $5K, you can find spacious, modern apartments with better amenities compared to Manhattan. The area offers a trendy vibe, stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, and a growing community of professionals. The commute to Midtown is manageable, especially with the A, C, and F trains providing direct access.

If you're open to other options, consider these neighborhoods: 1. Long Island City (LIC): Close to Midtown with lower costs than Manhattan. You can find luxury apartments with great amenities, and the commute is just 1-2 train stops into the city. 2. Battery Park City: Beautiful and peaceful, though prices for one-bedrooms can be steep. Sharing with a roommate might help. 3. Hudson Square: A bit farther from Midtown but offers a rich neighborhood feel with more affordable options. 4. Murray Hill: Popular for young professionals, with decent one-bedrooms around $4K-$5K. It's close to Midtown and has a lively social scene.

If you're leaning towards DUMBO, it's a solid choice for quality living and a good balance of price and lifestyle. Just ensure the commute works for your schedule.
