Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some strategies to maintain and strengthen your networking relationships as you head into recruiting season:

  1. Regular Follow-Ups:

    • Frequency: Follow up every 2-3 months with individuals who seemed interested in you.
    • Methods: Send emails, set up coffee chats, phone calls, or even text messages (if they’ve given you their number).
  2. Share Relevant Information:

    • Industry News: Send big news on names in the sector, summarize it, and share your views to demonstrate your understanding and interest.
    • Podcasts and Articles: Share interesting podcasts or articles you’ve come across, along with your thoughts.
    • Personal Updates: Update your contacts with your progress, such as securing an interview or achieving a milestone.
  3. Professional Engagement:

    • Career Growth: Keep the conversation directed towards your career growth, industry trends, and standards.
    • Mini-Asks: Ask for resume editing, career advice, or mock interviews.
  4. Consistency:

    • Stay Top of Mind: Ensure you are remembered by being of value and maintaining regular communication.
    • Avoid Over-Communication: Minimize the amount of communication during busy periods like earnings season.
  5. Expand Your Network:

    • Ask for Referrals: Always ask your contacts if there is anyone else you should talk to, which can help expand your network.
    • Multiple Contacts: Try to have more than one contact at each firm to increase your chances of getting a referral.
  6. Be Genuine and Tactful:

    • Personal Touch: If you know personal interests of your contacts (e.g., sports teams), use that to build rapport.
    • Natural Communication: Aim for your communication to become less formal and more natural over time.

By following these strategies, you can effectively maintain and strengthen your networking relationships into the recruiting season.
