Networking Advice

Hey guys, i have a couple of questions on networking. First, when cold mailing someone you have common interests with, do you mention those in the email and do you guys have any tips of how to approach that?

Second, when asking to get on a call should i propose a specific date, even tho its unlikely they'll be available, or should i just say something along the lines of "when you are available".

Thanks in advance.

Definitely mention whatever is common and possibly mention it in the subject line “conversation request - ABCD Student” or something like that.

Mention you are interested in IB or whatever role it is for. Say something like “ if you have any time in the next few weeks I would love to set up a 15-30 minute call to discuss your role at ABC bank, your career path, and Information regarding recruiting” this is the template I’d use for Analysts. Would make it more formal for higher ups.

Thank you. I definitely use the subject line to mention school, but if for example the common thing is we were born in the same city (outside the US) can i mention that we are both from the same city and say that  i would love to hear more about his story and how he transitioned to the US etc?
