Networking after losing your Job
I graduated from undergrad in May and had my IB analyst offer rescinded shortly before graduation and haven't been able to land on my feet since then. I've spent the last four months building a very solid network (50+ calls). Luckily, due to my situation, my cold email response rate has been closer to 25-30% than the 5-10% that everyone talks about. I have also virtually exhausted my alumni network, and I'm not sure what else I can do other than what I've been doing.
My question though is now that I have built this large network, how exactly do I follow up with these connections. I feel like getting on a second phone call is pointless and is it okay to just followup with a few sentence email that says asking if there is any changes in the hiring situation/update. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wait a month or so and send an updated email; ask them out for a coffee (you buy, too).
Keep applying for jobs and when you get a job, send them an email and let them know. Part of networking is maintaining the relationship that you wanted from them. Networking is more than one call/email, it is coffees, lunches, updates, etc. Talk about the book you are reading and ask them good questions.
While you are waiting to follow up, apply like crazy and start networking on LinkedIn in other cities. Reach out to bankers, brokers, insurance, real estate, lawyers, etc. Expand your industry parameters and keep on truckin'!
Thanks for your response. I definitely agree that maintaining the relationship is extremely important. I just feel like most networking practices cant be done now due to COVID and WFH, so I feel like followup emails/calls are really the only way to followup.
What exactly would you say in a followup email asking for any job updates?
