Networking for FT Positions Before SA Kicks Off
Landed a SA 2020 role at a top MM (HL, Jeff, Blair, etc). My goal was BB in NYC but I ended up receiving a MM offer in a different city. I'm too risk-averse to turn an offer like that down, but I know that I still want BB NYC.
Looking to lateral for FT and I'm thinking about starting to network right now (~8 months before SA starts) because I know I won't have a lot of time during my SA stint. How do I go about doing so without coming across poorly (networking for a different position before I even do the one I signed for)? Do I just wait to network until I start? Or wait until I have the offer in hand?
You can spin it however you want but people are going to know you’re networking to lateral which will reflect poorly on you.
I’d wait until 2-3 weeks into SA then hit up your previous network and go from there.
