No Return Offer - Disclose This in Networking Email?

Come August 10th, you hear you didn't get a return FT offer from your SA gig. Will prospective employers know this BEFORE you apply for a FT job with them? Of do you hopefully get the FT interview, unblemished, so that you can hopefully spin your non-offer story and explain it away during the first round interview?

So I guess if the goal is to hide this bad news before you get the interview for a FT job this fall, how do you go about doing this?

Thanks, but that brings up more questions: do some banks only want to interview with students who DID receive return offers?

And if you're reaching out to a networking contact at a bank on August 11 to let them know that you want to interview at their firm for a FT job, aren't they naturally going to ask if you received a return offer from your SA gig? And when you reply no, is this going to prevent you from even getting a FT interview with this bank?

Banks for the most part do want kids who received return offers but if you have a strong relationship already (which is pretty crucial for FT recruiting) you could probably explain your way to an interview.

Not receiving a return offer will be a big hurdle but it isn't totally prohibitive and you should work on getting good relationships prior to being in that situation to give you the best chance of getting out a FT interview/offer of it.
