Non diversity recruiting

I’m a semi Target non diversity wanting to go into EB / BB nyc - how cooked is it really? I don’t have any special connections, no nepo, etc. but I plan on networking in a couple weeks here and have been trying to get my techs up 😭

Have been hearing its cooked

It will be tough in this economy - my advice is to aim as high as you can, but also be open to starting in Consulting / Valuation / Mutual Fund / MM IBD, and then lateraling upmarket when the economy bounces back.

For context, I did not get EB RX when I was in undergrad, so I started out in Valuation Consulting, from where I moved into RX Consulting and then lateraled to EB RX, from where I went to MF PE and now work at a Distressed / Special Sits Crossover SM HF.

My time in RX consulting taught me so much, and it helps me a lot with my current role.

Sure, there is always the frustration of being a bit behind in years, but in retrospect, a couple of years is just a rounding error, and I learned so much in my consulting gigs that I am happy I did what I did.

Are MM's easier to recruit for? wondering if i should spread my net wide or potentially focus my networking in MM - Id prefer NYC but sounds like I shouldnt be picky abt location... thanks in advance!

will def look into valuation consulting (didnt even know that was a thing) and def being a couple years behind doesnt sound bad at all congrats on what youve achieved!!!
