Off-cycle Internship Prospects for an International Student
I am about to graduate in an English speaking commonwealth country and I am travelling to USA for 6 months next year (I will arrive in March). The IB industry in my country is very very small and it is the exception, not the rule to get an internship or full-time position (around 2-4% of applicants are successful).
I have lined up an internship with a local Big 4 Deals team later this year but I want to take my career to the next level and get into a BB. Any US experience will help this immensely. I aim to cold-call/email regional boutiques and MM firms over the next 6 months and try and get some leads for an off cycle internship.
I am wondering if any one has recent experience in obtaining an off cycle internship as an international student that would be keen to share their experience. I am willing to work for free but have seen mixed advice about whether this is acceptable or not (both culturally and legally).
