I am a sophomore in college in NYC pursuing a career in IB. I hope to work in NY post-grad for a while, as that is where my alumni network is strongest. However, in the long-term I plan on going home (New Orleans) or somewhere closer to home. I know that Oil and Gas are the only real verticals that are relevant there, and I was wondering are there any banks with O&G desks in NYC?

Yes, there are several BBs that split their energy team between NY and Houston. Off the top of my head, I believe JP Morgan, RBC, Goldman, and Barclays have bankers who cover Nat Res out of NYC.
Also, all of the BBs will have product groups in NY. So you could try to join an M&A/Lev Fin/ECM/Restructuring group and focus on oil and gas.
