Older WSO guides vs Newest guides?
Friend offered me his WSO interview guide (behavioral + technical) and was wondering if it would be worth spending for the latest 2018 (2019?) edition instead. Any input would be appreciated.

Associates/VPs don't spend their time updating interview questions every year. I recruited in 2016 with 2014 materials and it worked out fine.
some of the questions I got asked by the EBs were much more "one off" questions, rather than straight out of the 400 question bible. Rather than "Can you explain a DCF" it was "What happens to a company's WACC in a stock market crash and can you walk me through your logic on why?"
I also had a somewhat comprehensive case study that covered just about every aspect of that you prepare for, but it was applied in a "real world" setting.
I believe I recently saw a post by VP of an EB confirming that they are gravitating towards more conceptual understanding, rather than rote memorization. I don't know how much an updated study guide will help with this, but it is definitely worth noting the [perceived] shift.
Agreed - I had a similar experience for IB. I'm just making the point that in the context of interview guides 2 years isn't going to make or break recruiting. You either develop an understanding of how and what is asked or you don't.
IMO no need. I interviewed using older materials for PE and it ended up being totally fine.
I was mainly interested in the new stuff because of the quizzes that I couldn't find on the older material. Were the quizzes/interactive tools very helpful or would flashcards be fine?
