PA Trading Restrictions in IBD
So I've been out of IBD close to a year and have some interest in going long a few names I've done work on in my past analyst stint. Have no inside info (obviously), but in the past I always erred on the side of the caution by sticking with ETFs and never buying shares in a company I've had contact with, even if I wasn't privy to non-public info. Given that its been a year and I'm no longer part of an organization that has a restricted list, am I free to trade? Companies I had worked on are defacto the ones I know best and still follow, but I have nightmares about inadvertently creating a nefarious looking paper trail. Experiences? Thoughts? Tales of caution?
It's been a year. You're fine. I find it highly doubtful you're privy to any new, actionable information

Just a quick question - Is it possible to trade your PA actively while working in IB?
When I interned this summer I wasn't very active in trading, and have picked it up more over the school year. I know there is generally a wait/approval period before trading certain stocks, but once you get approval, is it possible to trade that stock frequently? Or do I have to become a buy-and-hold investor?
Thanks for any input.
It's possible, but you will have to open up the account with your firm. Your current accounts will either need to be transferred there or changed to liquidate only. Obviously, you can't trade stocks on the restricted list. Just be careful and be smart about it.
The only other obstacle is time...
