Partial strategic buyout
Presume a company has identified an attractive target (public) but they cannot afford to acquire 100% (would exceed target debt ratios). Could it make sense to purchase a majority stake of <90%?
To me, it seems like a weird thing but I can't pinpoint why. With a majority of votes the acquirer should be able to implement its strategies. Any thoughts?
