Partners Group Analyst Program

Current junior going into IB SA at BB in NY- is it worth recruiting for Partners Group’s full time fanalyst program based in Denver? Heard comp is on the lower end but probably less sweaty overall? Also long term would be interested to move to Switzerland and feel like this could be my in if I get the offer. I’m not super excited about IB long term and their recruiting timeline looks to be concurrent with my SA stint.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Partners Group's analyst program could be a solid option if your long-term goal is to move to Switzerland and you’re not particularly excited about a long-term career in IB. Here are some key considerations:

  1. Compensation and Lifestyle: While the compensation at Partners Group may be on the lower end compared to traditional IB roles, the lifestyle is generally considered less intense. This could be appealing if you value work-life balance over the higher pay and demanding hours of IB.

  2. Location and Long-Term Goals: The Denver location might seem unconventional for a firm with European roots, but it could serve as a stepping stone to their Switzerland office. If moving to Switzerland is a priority, this program could provide a direct pathway.

  3. Recruiting Timeline: Since their recruiting timeline overlaps with your IB SA stint, you’ll need to carefully manage your time and commitments. If you’re serious about pursuing this opportunity, start networking early and prepare for the process alongside your SA responsibilities.

  4. Exit Opportunities: Partners Group is a well-regarded name in private markets, and the experience could open doors to other roles in private equity or asset management, especially in Europe.

If you’re confident that IB isn’t your long-term path and you’re drawn to private markets with a focus on Europe, it’s worth exploring the Partners Group analyst program. However, weigh the trade-offs carefully, especially regarding compensation and the potential impact on your SA performance.
