PE fund approach and valuation of target

Hi,

Thank you very much for this forum, very helpful.

I was wondering, when a bank is mandated to advise a PE firm in its acquisition of a given company, how important is the LBO analysis? Is it only a sanity check/pre screening to see whether the deal could be relevant and that analysis will be backed by DCF/Trading comps valuation or is the LBO analysis sufficient for the valuation of the target and the elaboration of the purchase price?

Many thanks !
