PE vs. Pro Sports Corp Dev

Currently a second year analyst at a large MM shop and starting to look at exit opportunities as I approach the second half of this year. Before, I was sold on PE but that’s not exactly the case anymore. To preface, I find the work that I do really interesting in M&A (even more so in PE through conversations I’ve had plus experience dealing with sponsors). However, the hours have me burnt out and thinking that PE will be more of the same. I’ve done a few interviews here and there but haven’t really had the time to run at it full speed.

An interesting opportunity came up with do a Corp Dev / Strategy role with a major pro sports league. I’ll be taking a haircut to my pay but the hours will be much better. What I’m most worried about is capping my earnings potential by just taking the Corp Dev role versus making the jump to PE. Will I be closing doors by not going to PE? Any advice here?
