People with wealthy parents, what keeps you in IB?

When do you plan on leaving and what do you want to do? How do you deal with all the BS given the fact you may actually have more money than all your bosses. Coming from a middle class background, always curious to hear how the different backgrounds approach this job at the analyst level and think about it.

I certainly do not fall into this group, but a few of my friends do. A lot of them are incredibly driven and want to one up their parents. They’ve grown up in these business-minded families, so they’re all very competitive with each other. They hate the hours just as much as we all do, but they all see IB as a stepping stone to build their credentials before they exit to HF/PE or take over the family office.
