Pitt vs. UW Madison vs. VTech
I'm a high-school senior, looking to go to college next year, and then hopefully one day break into Investment Banking. I applied to targets schools, but because of my lacking SAT scores (and probably a bunch of other factors), I was rejected from every single one. That being said, I got into UW-Madison, Virginia Tech, Pitt, University of Miami in Ohio, and WVU.
My question is this: If you were in my shoes, where would you go? I may apply to a transfer next year, but I would like to try not to enroll in a school with that mindset. In other words, if staying at one of these schools for four years wouldn't hold me back too much, I would rather stay than start the application process (and all that comes with it, especially socially) all over again, as long as I like the school.
I loved Virginia Tech's campus, but UW-Madison is supposedly way better for Finance, as is Pitt. WVU I could attend for a very small price due to scholarships, and probably completely kill it my first year, getting better stats to transfer, as well as have tons of fun.

Wisconsin. They have a large presence for a state school on the street. Good party school.
I go to Pitt so I can speak about it a little bit. There are a dozen or so alumni in banking. If you can figure out how to get into the Socially Responible Investment Portfolio, places a few kids into banking per year. Key Banc is the only bank that actually recruits on campus.
PNC recruits pretty heavily on campus too but definitely more focused on commercial banking than investment banking.
UW Madison > Miami of Ohio > Others. Large gap between UWM vs. the rest. Not that big of a gap between Miami of Ohio and the others. UWM and don't think about it again.
UW Madison is the only place I've seen with any regularity from the schools on your list.
I think Miami of Ohio actually has a fairly well respected undergrad business school. I know several people who went there and were able to break into IB. Obviously not a huge feeder, but I agree it should be second on this list of schools.
Same here. Madison as the #1 choice here IMO and the clear winner academically.

Wisconsin without a doubt. Has a better than average pipeline into high finance for a non-target state school. If you have your shit together early you shouldn't have a problem. It is a strong feeder school into Milwaukee and Chicago firms.
You'll also get the full college experience there, much more so than any of those other schools you mentioned. The party scene is as good as any in the B1G and the campus is beautiful 6-8 months out of the year from what I hear.

Oh without question. However, people up there (that are used to the cold) actually don't mind the winters as much as people think - plenty of winter time shenanigans to be had.
definitely Virginia-Tech. You will have to work hard to get what you want, but will enjoy your experience there
