Pivoting from DCM to M&A internships (APAC)

Hi All! Currently a sophomore in Singapore. I've secured an upcoming DCM internship at an LMM bank (think OCBC, DBS, UOB, Maybank etc) for 6 months as part of my school's work attachment.

To my knowledge, I understand that DCM isn't exactly transferable to other product groups, maybe Levfin, but I would like to ideally try for an M&A role next.

My question is how much weight does an Investment Banking internship have regardless of product group in Singapore?

Would I be regarded as not having the relevant prior corporate finance experience when applying for M&A internships (not BB but other MMs like StanChart, BNP and maybe a few other boutiques) or is having the IB line on my resume a good differentiator for my application to be considered competitive and taken seriously?

I've looked it up on WSO and other avenues but can't find much details on people changing from DCM to other roles in the context of internships. Not sure also if things are viewed differently in Singapore vs the US when it comes to such internships

(Have had prior credit/equity research internships and I've done a lot of DCF modelling as part of competitions. My interview for the DCM role had a hybrid of fixed income as well as your usual IB accounting and valuation questions e.g. WACC which I've answered with no issues due to my experience)
