Do they have any office perks like chefs, baristas, etc. Do they give you a laptop and phone

Controversial

2nd year at PJT M&A. All-in as a 1st year was $220k-$250K including signing bonus. Perks are really good, especially the office. Only downside is there are no A2A promotion opportunities. You have to leave after 2 years.

Can anyone confirm that there are no A2A promotions? I've never heard that before. So all their associates are laterals then? This doesn't check out to me

it's pretty standard

  • $35 dinner budget, doesn't need to be in office
  • 4 days per week required in office
  • protected saturdays in theory but rarely respected
  • average coffee machines
  • $20 in-office lunch on thursdays
  • cool looking white marble office to make you forget that you're there cranking at 11pm
  • laptops provided (recently upgraded to Dell v. the old Thinkpads)
  • no work phone provided, but the firm covers up to $100 for your phone plan
  • they give you a free vest (no longer patagucci sadly), backpack, umbrella and some pens and stuff but all other merch you need to pay for (~$60 for the banker bag)

tough to say on comp - all-in comp has been going down since they're getting stingy on bonuses recently. some recently-departed second-years saw a decrease in YoY comp lol. expect average comp in line with GS top bucket, JPM top bucket, Guggenheim, etc. but generally lower than EVR, CVP, PWP, even Moelis

Lower than evercore?? They were paying shit this year

Lol they’re not getting stingy, junior comp is still top of the street bar CVP/ Q. This past analyst bonus cycle they decided to increase the bands I.e previously top and bottom tier analysts were getting paid within close range of each other, now they’ve reduced comp for the middling/ bottom and awarded the balance to the top half. Some An2 were checking out beyond an acceptable level
