Please Advise - Top 5 Tech Groups in 2023-24 Recruitment Cycle
What are the top 5 tech groups right now? My impression at the moment is GS TMT, MS Menlo, and Qatalyst SF are some of the best groups, but I've also heard MS Menlo isn't as great of a group anymore? I would like a rank of the top 5 groups in order of exit opportunity and prestige.
Top is undoubtedly Q with GS TMT/MS MP general considered trailing and comparable. MS has more IPOs which don’t add to your junior experience, but it’s not a major difference
Past that, it’s your pick of JPM SF, EVR MP, LAZ SF or even Moelis SF
If purely optimizing for exits, you can’t go wrong with some east coast desks like EVR Tech NYC or GS TMT NYC
I heard FT Partners is the new Gold standard (140k base btw)
Tech coverage is unique in that it really is dominated by Q and GS (MS also strong), with a very steep drop off after. JPM, LAZ, and EVR are decent but they’re never really leading a large sell-side. It’s always Qatalyst or GS TMT with little exception
Will give EVR a little bump among the 2nd group — recent massive exodus of GS TMT seniors to EVR.
Outside of SF, the obvious GS TMT NYC and EVR NYC Tech; exits from the last class include Blackstone PE, Apollo PE, Thoma Bravo PE, Vista PE
