Please help. Top 50 MM IBs

If anyone can help me or tell me how I can find the top 50 middle-market investment banks in the US (easily), I would sincerely appreciate it. I do not have CapitalIQ and I might be able to get my hands on a Bloomberg terminal. Any tips would be of great help, thank you.

Vault has a career guide to the top 50 MM Banks. I'd check with your school's career center to see if they have it.

Ulqini - not a bad list. There's some junk in there, but hits most of the correct names. May I ask what Vault bases that on?

Actually, I should have made it clear in my post. These firms aren't ranked at all. Vault just provides the names of 50-60 and includes a brief profile for each one. I would assume that some of the top MM IBs are in there, no?...at least top 20-30.

aquamarineeHow hard is it for a sophomore to get a summer analyst job at any of these MM banks?

Many of the MM shops don't have summer analyst program. Some of the ones that do have an intern or 2, it is sometimes on a case by case basis. I know someone who works at a MM shop which never has interns but they hired one this year because its the son/daughter of one of the Senior MD's very close friends. So that means you can get an internship, even at a place which never really hires interns by networking and being really well prepared. And your dad doesn't have to be a Sr MD's closet gay lover. It could have just as easily been someone a senior member of the firm really takes a liking to. Maybe a student from their alma matter who reached out to them, really made an impression, and they want to mentor. But you have to realize, especially in this market, people are getting hit up by students from their alma matter left, right and center, so you need to be really well prepared to make a lasting impression.

Additionally, how hard is it? A 2.9 student from Flagler, impossible. A 3.8 student from Dartmouth, possible. (this is not an invitation to submit your stats and ask 'what are my chances') What kind of question is this? Theres plenty of threads on WSO and materials on the internet on ways to get opportunities at various shops, including MM shops.

"MM/Boutique I Banks" / = or, possibly and or can hardly call it a BB therefore sensible to think of it as a boutique admittedly "Preferably MM that are based in NY" but still...

meaning we've never done a deal with them. i don't even know if Barclays or ABN even do m&a. not a real investment bank if you can't do anything but lend money.

ConcealedCarryI can speak to RBS as having a very strong team in NYC. As you indicated, very small as compared to their operations in Europe but they are legit and are focused mainly on leveraged finance (a few M&A guys too).

Dude, I said RBC. And I didn't say they were stellar either.

I didn't even know RBS had investment banking.
