Point72 Good Place to Work?

Just saw a Point72 SA recruiting post on my school's job portal. I know SAC was in some hot water back in 2014 and was wondering if Point72 has managed to restore its brand as a top hedge fund to work at. Thanks!

In a presentation they said they have long/short, macro, quant, and private equity teams. Obviously significant majority is going to be in long/short and I doubt they'd hire out of undergrad for the other teams.

Pretty good place to work as a full-time. Casual working environment with tons of resources to work with i.e with Point72 brand name you can sit down with any sell-side analyst and corporate meeting. Mentorship is great from what i know as they are trying to develop "home-grown" PM. You get a "small" portfolio to trade with as a cut from your senior PM quite early on. They hire pp from various background but most of them have BB IB intern or fund intern in their CVs. All above info are from one of their office outside the US.

Buddy of mine did the Summer Academy 2 years ago, it screwed him over. They didn't get extended a FT offer and when they tried to find jobs outside it was near impossible. No bank would take him since they knew he didn't get a FT offer from the firm. On the other side of the coin...if you get a FT offer you're set for life.

Why get your own coffee when you can get an intern to do it for you?

can echo this - very similar thing happened to a friend. I heard it's a complete shitshow - would not touch with a 20 ft pole. Again, play it safe early on and go to BBIB or even S&T.

While they are mainly a traditional shop, they've been pushing quant strategies a lot more. I have friends who interviewed for quant software and at the on-site they talked about how they're trying hard to expand their quant group. Apparently a lot of ex-strats guys are there, so it may be worth going into if you're doing quant/software work.
