for a quant job, you'd definitely need lots of familiarity with math and/or computer science in addition to just finance. quants often have degrees in engineering, advanced maths, physics, etc.

 

Why didn't you get in to the IB in the first place?

You have to think, after doing the Masters you will be applying for Associate spots. How are you going to out do those that have 2-3 years experience in the bank, have done an MBA at a top school and are coming back?

You are at a disadvantage in terms of experience and the Masters makes you over-qualified for an analyst position. Unless you are moving in to more of a S&T/Quant role, I can't see how the Masters is going to help. The more study you do, the more obvious it becomes you haven't got any relevant experience.

Likewise with the CFA. Great for reseach jobs, not so much for banking.
