Purpose of MBB M&A divisions?
I recently found out that Management Consultancies sometimes also work on M&A transactions but don't understand what parts of the process they could work on besides the commercial DD. Obviously I looked elsewhere but statements like "our M&A consultants bring a strategic, value-creating perspective to every engagement to deliver fresh insights via an efficient, results-oriented process" aren't very insightful - does anyone with an IB background have a specific example of their tasks from past collaborations?
