Question about background checks

Hi everyone. I got a verbal offer from a transaction service company to joint their team and I had a question about background check since they say it’s lengthy.

I worked at a DFI for 9 months on a fixed short term contract. My title was “assistant analyst”, which is the entry level for those contracted on a short term basis. “Analyst” is a position above this but only in title as there’s not much difference in tasks, only in the contract. Keep in mind it was a middle office role. I put an “analyst” on an older version of my CV, the one that I used when applying to this role.

Im worried about this coming up in the BG checks since I understand these are outsourced and could easily result in my offer being rescinded.

In most cases they only check the title, the duration of employment and whether the name matches. that's it.

Here, the title / tasks are similar enough to satisfy a match IMO.

Thanks for your input man I've been through it before and know this is how it works. Rn my experience certificate says "Person worked as an assistant analyst in the XYZ team from MM/YYYY to MM/YYYY on a short term contract".

Cant shake the concern someone might draw suspicion from this though. IIRC it has to correspond to an online form that I have to fill

There is a lot of flexibility on this form, as long as you don't lie about significant stuff like gaps, time worked, name/identity, and more.

analyst/as. analyst should be alright

like u mentioned you’ll have to fill out a form from a third party who won’t disclose it unless there’s an extreme discrepancy in ur titles/dates. In most cases no one will even call ur employer. the difference here is very simple they should confirm it fairly easily. typically what takes time here is ur criminal record especially if you’re not a citizen
