Hi all, Currently a rising sophomore interested in recruiting for GSAM, have a few questions about the division though. What are the primary groups within GSAM, and do you apply to a specific one for SA or are you placed within one randomly during your SA? How competitive is it to get GSAM from a target school? If I apply to both GS IBD and GSAM, will that reduce my chances at getting an interview at either? What do exits look like?

Did my SA at GSAM. The main groups you apply for are GSAM publics and privates. There are tons of roles within both ranging from back/middle office to actual investing roles so huge variation in group strength. Similar to how GS ibd recruiting works, you apply for the division as a whole and then get interviews/offers at a specific group within it. 2. Would say that for good investment roles, especially in GSAM privates, the role is easier than ibd classics but not significantly easier. It gets easier for publics bc GSAM strength came mostly from privates.3.
