quick fashion question

hey sorry, I realize this should be in the fashion forum, but I just need some quick thoughts. How does it look to go to an information session wearing black shoes, Gray pants, and a black jacket, with a nice button down and no tie? does it look unprofessional? the clothes are all good quality, it's just the mismatching of colors I was slightly concerned about. I'm afraid the colors will make me stand out and look a bit of a clown. thanks for any thoughts.

If you work in industry and you're used to seeing people in suits, a mismatched jacket/pant combo looks like the equivalent of putting your t-shirt on backwards or inside-out. I didn't understand it when I was a college student, either, but trust me- it just looks... off. Just show up wearing the gray slacks and a dress shirt- or if you must wear a jacket, try khakis with the suit if you have them (no cargo, rips, wrinkles, funny belts- just plain khakis.) Ideally, wear brown dress shoes or something lighter than black if you go with the khakis.

We've seen khaki pants before- even in final round interviews- and it makes you look like a really unsavvy college student, but it doesn't look like you had a wardrobe malfunction. A blazer/khakis/tennis shoes or black leather shoes would be better than showing up in gray pants, IMHO. But it would be better to just show up in a dress shirt and slacks.
