Quit Corp Dev for Social Media?

Over the last 2y since leaving banking (im 24) I have been doing remote corp dev and building a social media biz simultaneously. The biz now does 30k-50k net profit monthly very consistently, never been below that for a while now.

My corp dev job doesn't take much time but god does it feel pointless. Only brings me 10k/mo pretax

I find myself not even being able to get myself to do simple 15 min asks for my boss without forcing myself via a zyn, hours of procrastination, xyz

My question - what will corp dev pay if I stay for the next several years? Would it be worth it My sales team is confident we can get to 100k/mo +, and the consistency of this business was my original concern, but that concern has only proven to be not worth worrying about.

I've been SB'd before for talking ab this dilemma but genuinely desperate for help. I spent basically a quarter of my life worshipping at the shrine of a "finance career path" and now feel the desire to leave, but I don't know if I'm passing up the ability to make more / do deals solo / etc at a later age if I stick

Sages of WSO pls help

I'm struggling to see why you would want to stay there is objectively no benefit. If you really want to stay in Finance then maybe offer some independent business consulting that takes like a few weeks max so that you can finish the engagement before the excitement wears off. Or join some angel investor/startup media VC group as a capital provider and play pretend investor without actually having to get into the weeds. That would be so sick I wish I could do that. It probably helps your brand too like what Nate O'brien did. You're given instant credibility with your previous experience and social media business.

I am terrified that zuckerberg could just thanos snap me out of existence the day i quit my job. The only ways i know how to make money are social media and being an excel monkey. I worked at a shitty bank and only really have 100k in capital saved, so I dont know if I could be taken seriously to do that sort of stuff? Or have you seen folks be able to easily win that kind of work or join that kind of group?

Well I mean I'm not in social media but the first thing I would ask is what is your channel about, are you the brand or are you seperate, what is the runway like for your content? Enough for a few years or maybe just a handful of pieces. Then diversify. Hit every single major media outlet idk. Make your own website, make backup accounts. I feel that is the playback of most online content creators. When I was talking about the VC thing, ok maybe not an large check investor maybe not a Sequoia level firm or pay, but I feel that if you approach the right people or firm, like a small shop you can probably negotiate some sort of lucrative seat for yourself working bs hours solely because you have a niche business building skillset in a mainstream industry thats starting to become financialized. But if your net income is $30-50k a month you'll be able to start writing small checks in no time provided yout platform doesn'  immediately get slimed out. And man you can move back into CorpDev or another nice seat no problem I feel that no one will hear your situation and be like nah hes unhireable.

The benefits of staying are benefits and surety. Your business is consistent, yes, but not guaranteed in the same a way W2 income is so don’t get it twisted.

Scale your business to a consistent $100k/month, hire an employee, have a plan to pay yourself professionally and get a healthcare, life insurance, maybe a 401k setup and *then* you have a business worth leaving for.
