Quitting - Did you guys write any emails?

Currently work at a sub 20 person group. Found a new job was thinking of writing an email to say thanks and wish my team the best and to stay in touch etc. Have went back through my prior emails and referenced a few other prior farewell emails

Did you guys write any farewell emails before moving jobs and quitting, or just thanked people in person and asked for emails / phone numbers?

I’ve re-read a few emails sent from people who left recently. Always interesting to see what people say, but most just say they’re excited to join a new firm, thanked everyone for their support and left some phone and email info. Are you moving to buyside?

Generally, folks write farewell emails and put their personal contact information in the email (email and cell). Keep it short and simple; there is no need to put more than two to three sentences saying thank you, keep in touch, etc. Then for those you were close with, maybe grab a coffee before you depart. While your group is small, sending an email is helpful if they want to reach you, for whatever reason, down the road.

Good ideas, I’m at a small group so I think most my team has my contact info, but I can provide in an email for the reasons you describe above

The last farewell email I’ve seen from my group was from someone fairly senior and while it was short and simple it read a little funny but not sure why, think one of my coworkers mentioned something during lunch about it and I didn’t realize until I looked back and re-read it
