Quitting IB for Software Engineering

Long story short, hit the desk at an EB about 6 months ago and quickly realizing I hate this job. 80+ hour weeks are taking a toll, and realizing that finance isn't really for me.

I majored in CS at an Ivy, have a fair amount of CS extracurriculars + a good GPA, have a SWE internship already under my belt (albeit at a smaller firm) - and I am pretty much interview ready at this point. How negative of an impact would it have to leave in January after stub bonus (roughly at the 8/9 month mark?) Obviously understand that it's not ideal, but given that I'm exiting to a completely different industry does the calculus change at all?

Not at all brother, do what's in your best interest. Just know you're not alone because I'm looking to leave the second I get my stub bonus

Why did you initially choose IB over SWE? I am a CS freshman at Princeton hoping to get into IB, but am recruiting for freshman SWE internships; do you have any advice in choosing a career path?
