Raymond James Investment Banking?

I currently work for Raymond James in a different role, and figured staying in-house would be easier than trying to find an IB job elsewhere. Does anyone have experience working for Raymond James on the IB side?

I see from a previous post that you’re in financial planning. As someone that came from financial planning and is now in IB, I hate to break it to you but the IB team at Raymond James won’t give a fuck about your wealth management experience. You’ll have just as good a chance applying at outside firms, unless you can really finesse your network somehow.

These large wealth management firms, as I’m sure you’re aware by now, operate similar to real estate shops, i.e. the corporation provides resources and takes a fee from the advisors, but the advisors all essentially have their own shop which is mostly autonomous. This is great for them but terrible for trying to transition out of the shop and into the main operations of the corporation such as IB and CB. There is no direct path and the networking opportunities are highly limited. Good luck my friend.
