RBC Capital Markets M&A Group
I might get an interview from RBC Capital Market M&A Group (for entry level analyst position). Does anyone know about this group and the firm? What type of interview questions, their deal flows, culture, etc.
They have been hiring very actively on senior level to win more mandates and secure a solid top10 on league table. Also, they have strong balance sheet. But do they use this advantage to win more mandates? Because they do M&A Advisory as far as I know.
I would appreciate many insights on the position, group, and the firm, and as well as interview tips/advice.
Thanks
M&A group is very small. PM me if you want more information.
i'm also curious about this. I know that RBC did very well last year, in terms of league table in Canada and also doing well in the US.
Which location is your interview for and when is it?
Anyone have any interview tips/advice with RBC? What types of questions will I expect?

Location ??
i have an interivew with them. think ny. any insights?
I have heard they work pretty long hours for a mm bank. Pretty stuffy group culture from what I last heard when someone I knew was working there.
It's prob for san fran - and you should look around more
RBC better than Jefferies or Guggenheim?
Depends. If it was Jefferies HC I would go Jefferies. RBC & Jefferies are both mm banks so just pick based on fit. Guggenheim is a lower MM bank so I would still choose RBC/Jefferies over Guggenheim.

i have a first round interview at RBC for a healthcare analyst role. anyone interview there who can lend some guidance on possible format/questions I'll be fielding?
Any help is appreciated.
Hi, Can you please tell me what the interview at RBC looks like? (personal questions vs formulas, etc.) How are they in terms of compensation?
pretty much standard for FT - 70 K base and 10k sign on bonus
I interviewed with them, but it was not group specific. Typical DCF, valuation, accounting questions and general fit. First round with a junior banker will be more technical IMO.
Once I made it clear I knew technicals the conversation became much more general/fit oriented.

IBD interview with RBC coming up soon. Anyone have any advice/helpful information on the structure? Thanks in advance.
This is something discussed ad nauseum, search.
which location is this for swagger?
NYC
Talk about the Bauer IPO
structure is pretty basic - half fit half technical. they focus more so on fit so better have your behavioral prepped up.
Thanks for the info, Buyout.
What role is this for? Summer Analyst of Summer Associate? That might determine the type of questions you get. Just make sure you have a pretty well-defined reason for wanting to be at RBC. Think well and hard about their competitive advantages and align your career aspirations to align with those as much as possible without sounding fake. Good luck!
np - let us know how it goes
Great advice guys, I had an RBC interview recently and it basically covered what was mentioned here. A few technicals, a few behavioral, then a big focus on why RBC.
Mine turned out to have no technicals. It was essentially a really long "tell me about yourself" with them asking questions about my experiences throughout.

I'm going to have an interview with RBC Capital Markets in Canada for Investment Banking tomorrow. Any tips/advice/interview questions that anyone can offer me?
I've searched Glassdoor for interview questions but there was only 1. Past threads on Wallstreetoasis don't have any interview questions and info is related to US more than Canada.
Expect fit-heavy questions with an emphasis on why RBC.
As Sav said they will ask many fit questions. Prepare for some simple technicals.
