RBC Sophomore Diversity Insight Programs (LGBTQ+, Womens)
Hi! I was wondering if anyone who has done these programs in the past years, specifically LGBTQ+ and Womens have any tips for successfully recruiting? Did you all do several networking calls and reach out to alumni from your school? I know a few peers who did a few calls here and there or did no networking at all and still received offers. I would love to hear everyone's perspectives and experiences within this role and any tips!
Thank you!
One of my closest friends (diverse) went through this program at a semi-target. Applied with zero networking. Had one extremely easy, conversational "interview" with an alumni for admittance into the program. He did no networking beyond meetings with an assigned diverse mentor and was then pushed directly to a superday. One of the interviewers was even his mentor, who explicitly stated that they are not allowed to ask technical questions for those in this program. Said interviewer proceeded to take it upon himself to ask a couple anyway, along the lines of $10 of depreciation and what is EBITDA. The most absolutely basic questions found on the first page of the 400Q guide. My friend then received the offer and ended up going to a BB instead. I'm sure I'll get downvotes from the "diversity interviews are just as hard" crowd, but this was within the past 3 years and straight from the horse's mouth.
It was pretty infuriating hearing this while going through recruiting before any of our friend group had received offers, but in hindsight showed what a total joke the program was. Terrible look for the firm and DEI overall, but not exactly that different from other stories that I've heard about diversity programs/interviews.
TLDR: You don't need to network or know technicals, just be a women/black/gay.
Is there a specific GPA requirement or preference for candidates from certain programs for the diversity program, or is the process more flexible? I’ll be applying for the Canadian process
And how hard were the BB diversity program questions?
One guy at my target school (think Georgetown/Stern/Cornell tier) got the RBC soph internship and then managed to snap CVP junior SA afterwards
Had a friend from Georgetown/Harvard/Yale do this as well. Maybe we have the same friend?
was he the generational talent who somehow fumbled cvp?
Does anyone know what happened to him or his whereabouts. I keep hearing mixed stories.
According to his substack (Biggie No Cheese) he's working in Dubai
New full form of DEI is Diversity Encourages Incompetence
Stop worrying, you already got it in the bag
ewwwwwww diversity, glad its at least at rbc tho
Hey, I was wondering if you got advanced to the survey round where they asked your connection to the LGBT community and if you have heard back about an interview yet? I haven’t yet so I was wondering if I didn’t make it or if they haven’t reached out to anyone at all
yeah they already came out with interviews
Did people already here back from the interviews?
I interviewed and never heard back. I wonder if people already got in from the IB track.
Just heard back I didn’t get it
lol imagine having a free ticket into high-finance by being diversity and wasting it on RBC
Imagine wasting it by being shit at Rbc when you got CVP.
