Reapplying for Spring Weeks

Hello guys,

I am a second year student at a top target in the UK (Oxbridge/LSE). Unfortunately, in my first year I was unable to land a Spring Week. I have now started applying for summer internships, however not sure about chances as I am not diversity and require visa sponsorship. I was wondering about potentially reapplying to Spring Weeks as I will most probably do a masters anyways. What do you guys think is the way to do so? Should I put intended masters in my CV even though I am just a second-year student? Thanks a lot!

Based on previous WSO threads, here are some insights and strategies for reapplying to Spring Weeks:

  1. Reapply with a Different Graduation Date:

    • Make two CVs: one with a graduation date of 2025 and one with 2024. You can easily do this by adding “with a year abroad” at the end of your degree.
    • Reapply for Spring Weeks at BBs (Bulge Bracket banks) next year with the 2025 CV and then apply for Summer Analyst (SA) positions at banks that don’t run Spring Weeks.
  2. Include Intended Masters:

    • If you are planning to do a master's, it can be beneficial to include this on your CV. This can help position you as a penultimate year student, which is often a requirement for Spring Week applications.
    • You can mention that your program allows you to postpone graduation if you attend an exchange program or do another internship during the year.
  3. Optimize Your CV:

    • Ensure your CV is optimized for the London market. Familiarize yourself with how CVs should look and what key experiences to highlight.
    • Include any relevant internships, leadership roles, and volunteering experiences to strengthen your application.
  4. Timing Your Application:

    • Timing is crucial. Apply as early as possible in the application process to increase your chances, especially since you require visa sponsorship.
  5. Alternative Routes:

    • Consider applying to MM (Middle Market) and smaller boutique banks that don’t run Spring Weeks. These firms often have available spots for Summer Analyst positions and can provide valuable experience.

By following these strategies, you can enhance your chances of securing a Spring Week or Summer Analyst position. Good luck!

Have you thought about why you were rejected first and worked to address those weaknesses? I think most investment banks wouldn’t care if you did that but I wouldn’t do it unless you address why you didn’t get any last application season. Wishing you luck though 💪

I mean, I was at uni last year in the same boat as you and missed spring weeks. I hated my course at my old uni and have moved also to a target uni and am reapplying for Springs so i’m kind of in a similar boat hahaha. The main thing is applying early and not cocking up the online assessments. After that it’s up to fate

Icl a week late is not late enough for it to be the only reason of not landing any spring week. May be overlooking something else mate.

Could work if you did a decent first year summer and have good society and volunteering stuff. And can reasonably extend your degree grad date to 2027.
