Recovering from a bad Start?

I just finished up my second actual week of a summer analyst stint at GS/MS/JPM (first week was training and we didn't do jack). I've been doing poorly thus far in the program ie making dumb mistakes more than once/screwing up easy tasks/saved over an old version of a document (wasn't an important document, but still). Meanwhile, the rest of the interns in my group have been doing very well, and have been receiving more work from our associate. I honestly feel like I'm popping up as a red flag and am really concern as to whether I'll get an offer. What steps can I take to improve my performance?

dude take a deeeeeep breath. #1) this is 2nd week for, #2) i guarantee your peers are making equally "bad" mistakes if not worse. I put bad in "" because this happens to everyone. #3) even if your associate / staffer noticed you're struggling, its only your 2nd week. If you are still making these mistakes on week 7, then yes, that is a red flag. just relax, take extra time to do your work, step away, go wash your face in the bathroom, come back, print the file and read it again.

Just view it as a hustle. Sounds like you have set the bar sufficiently low, so now even if you're average for the rest of the summer it'll look like a huge improvement.

Relax, everybody including your superiors make stupid mistakes. Slow your work down, its always better to be the kid who takes a little longer to get things done than the kids who chronically turns in poor work and never improves.

Before you turn in anything check it over, then double check, print it out and take a walk and grab some water, look it over then send it in. Realize that the majority of work you do is not going to be difficult, but just expected to be done well. Work, especially as an analyst, is about doing relatively simple tasks almost perfect.

For those of you who commented -- I did in fact calm down, work hard, and improve my deliverables. Ended up getting the offer this morning. Thanks for giving me some clarity and keeping me grounded. Cheers
