Recruiter reached after coffee chat

Hello,

I am kind of new to this but I had a really good coffee chat with an associate at a firm and the head of recruiting reached out today telling me to apply and that they would like to progress me to the next step in the recruitment process. I am not sure what they mean by "progress" but my question is should I reach out to the associate and thank them and maybe ask for another coffee chat? Any general advice would be helpful!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:

  1. Thank the Associate: It's a good idea to reach out to the associate who helped you. Express your gratitude for their time and assistance. This shows appreciation and helps maintain a positive relationship.

  2. Follow Up with the Recruiter: Respond to the head of recruiting promptly. Express your enthusiasm for the opportunity and ask for clarification on the next steps in the recruitment process.

  3. Request Another Coffee Chat: If you feel it would be beneficial, you can ask the associate for another coffee chat. However, ensure that your request is respectful of their time. You might say something like, "I would love to catch up over coffee again if you have time, to discuss any advice you might have for the next steps."

  4. General Advice:

    • Be Direct and Respectful: When reaching out, be clear about your intentions and respectful of their time.
    • Stay in Touch: Keeping in touch with the associate can be beneficial. Regular updates on your progress can help maintain the relationship.
    • Seek Mentorship: If the associate seems open to it, you might consider asking them to mentor you through the process.

Remember, the goal is to build a professional relationship that can support you through the recruitment process and beyond. Good luck!
