Refusing to do work / pushing back deadlines
Has anyone ever pushed back on deadlines / said something would have to wait until next week to get done (ex: when being asked to do non-deal work during protected hours/saturdays, unrealistic deadlines, etc.)? How did it turn out?
Yeah, I've done it several times with my staffer, but I've also built up a good relationship with my superiors and I've already developed a track record of getting stuff done. Build up a reputation of being a reliable and competent worker first, and then the seniors will be much more likely to respect you when you push back, knowing that you're not just a lazy slacker.
How soon do you think it’s ok to start doing this after youve started working / built up a reputation that you can get work done? Is 6 months too soon?
