Reneging on BB Ops for MM IB Internship

Hi Monkeys,

Title basically. I come from a non-target in the UK and the best I could secure last summer on was a FT offer for an ops role at BB, which I accepted since they also sponsored my visa and thought was the best I could get before heading back to final year.

I have now got an interview for a MM IB  intership starting the same month but unsure as to even attend given the risks  of word coming out to the BB and having the original offer pulled + the risk of not even getting the MM IB offer. I’ve seen most threads about this on this forum recommending not saying where I have accepted an offer, but I guess if they background check on previous employment at BB it might be easy for word to come out that I have accepted their offer and am now planning on reneging so close to start date (2mo)?

Also, hard to take the risk since its an internship but I know how important it is to start where you wanna be in the future.

Any advice on this would be really appreciated; I need some hard honesty which is hard to get from people close to me.

Thanks!

Ofc, set on it if I do get the opportunity. Asking only because I'm planning to disclose during the interview that I've accepted another offer, but without specifying where (This seems to be the consensus on this forum so that it does not backfire). However, I'm concerned they might press for details, and I prefer not to disclose the company's name as I am afraid they will go out of their way to notify them and that would just be 0 offers 2 burnt bridges for me. I could say it’s another industry entirely but could they find out during the screening that it’s another BB which is due to start soon? I am probably overthinking this but exactly why I have posted it here; Maybe this never happens.

I'm debating whether the risk is worth it; It is career wise for sure but I do have rent to cover.
