Renewables in Canada
Hi all, I am a first year analyst at a Canadian bank (Scotia, cibc, NBF) in power / utilities coverage group, and would like to eventually move to infra investing.
Not seeing a lot of opportunities in Toronto ATM, so I am also open to renewables. Based on my knowledge, I have identified the following key players in the renewable space in Canada. Does anyone have any insight on which would provide best exit opportunities in Canada or to the US? Brookfield would take the cake, but thinking beyond Brookfield. Thanks
1. Sponsors (Brookfield Renewable)
2. Strategics (NORTHLAND POWER, CAPITAL POWER, TRANS Alta, Boralex, Liberty)
3. Others (HYDRO Quebec)
Probably Northland after Brookfield. I think of them more as an infrastructure fund.

Any particular reason you wouldn't consider infra investing teams on pensions. Curious about the space

OPG might be an interesting one to consider.
I've heard of them but I don't think I've ever heard of em buying anything or been on the list of clients / companies my MDs have ever brought up on internal or external calls. Why do u reckon it could be interesting ?? Thanks for commenting

Most flexible exit opps would 100% be Brookfield as you pointed out. I don't really do infra so hard for me to comment on the strategics. Probably best to stay away from the crown corps like HQ.
I know Agentis Capital is hiring right now. They’re 7th in NA for 2022 infra transactions. Above market compensation too.
