Mid to late april is when interviews begin
Yeah, last year I interviewed around march/April
For SA 2020, I interviewed in October, but for SA 2019, I had a colleague who interviewed in May.
For SA 2021, I had a colleague who interviewed in April. No clue when they want to interview.

Know friends from my school's investment banking club that have received first rounds. Not a target for most banks but we are for Rothschild. I haven't gotten one yet unfortunately. Also know someone from NYU that has received one too

I think only a few analysts from the women’s program and then some other accelerated hires have gotten offers at this point for NYC. Interviews for rest kicking off in next 2 weeks.

Heard they let one or two people in through the back door. I hate nepotism elevating terrible candidates that couldn’t sniff an actually technical interview
I mean this is Wall Street. IB is probably the least meritocratic and most relationship-driven industry there is.
How does Rothschild compare to Jefferies?
Honestly I'd say they're both comparable. They both straddle MM and much larger deals, but Jefferies definitely pays better. Rothschild generally does have a better culture though.
If you are interested in RX you should go with Rothschild. Jefferies does RX but isn't as good as Rothschild. For everything else, I would take Jefferies. It has got better exits, pays very well, and is overall a better bank to be at in the US.
Jefferies has a considerably worse culture (I know people at both). Sometimes the extra pay isn’t worth it.

What were first round interviews like? What kind of behaviorals/technicals?
The guy I had was super chill and asked mostly behavioral questions. The last 5 minutes were relatively easy technical questions.
Damn mine was like 2/3 technicals. All qualitative ones, but still. Got them all right but a couple had my interviewer ask for elaboration.
I had no technical questions in my second round. Purely behavioral.

Can someone clear up what the Rothschild timeline looks like? Sounds like people have had superdays, but non-target non-diversity is just kicking off I believe. Any idea on class size too? Would appreciate any clarity on this, thanks!
There was a general info session on April 25th. During that session, one of the analysts said they would be kicking off in the next two weeks. I don’t know exactly what group that timeline was for, but I got a first round invite a week later as non core, non diversity. Not sure about class size.

Alright, it's almost been 2.5 weeks since I heard back about first round and about a week since my first-round interview. Anyone have any insight on when we might be hearing back? Know an analyst there and they know nothing.

It seems some people here are getting second rounds pretty quickly. If we haven’t received one, does that mean we’re out? They even asked me about timing pressures to which I told them about how I am interviewing at a comparable place.

gonna be honest, might be in dire straights now, a lot of first rounds have happened for both targets and non-targets.

I think mostly behavioral.
Very behavioral and fit-based. May get some market questions but just be yourself. Rothschild is all about fitting into their culture and if you go to a target school or have strong connections at the firm.

Rothschild is NOT generalist for full time analysts, correct? I know the internship program is generalist, but assuming you get a return offer for full time, you are placed in an industry group right?
From what I heard, I think it's still somewhat generalist in the beginning. I'm not totally sure though.

Had my Rothschild Chicago SD last week and got the rejection today - I think there is a 1 week lapse between each new application notification (for anyone still waiting on stuff at other locations).
How did you feel the SD went?
I thought it went really well tbh and was told as much by the interviewers. All fit-based, but ymmv by office. Got an offer from my #1 during the wait, though, so I’m chilling haha. Good luck!

most likely if they don't fill spots in this round of supers they will host another round, but besides that, might just be a ding
