SA @ MM IB —> FT BB/EB IB

Hey all!

I go to a large state school (low/semi-target) and am an incoming junior. I landed a SA27 Investment Banking M&A offer at a regional MM firm, and I’m also interning at a smaller boutique this summer. I got a relatively late start to recruiting and didn’t really have the opportunity to recruit heavily for BB/EB SA roles.

I’m curious what the process, timeline, and overall difficulty typically look like for recruiting into BB/EB firms for full-time roles with said experiences. I’m especially interested in the EB side, mainly because I really am attracted to the tighter-knit teams and specific & sometimes frat-like culture, which is part of what attracted me to MM banking in the first place.

Would also appreciate any advice on:

* How realistic the jump is from MMBB/EB for FT recruiting, what the timeline might look like (ex. Would I start recruiting prior to my SA27 gig starting or after?)
* Specific firms or groups that may be worth researching/networking with

For context, I’m mainly interested in M&A, Consumer & Retail, or potentially Tech coverage.

Thanks in advance! I would greatly appreciate anybody’s 2 cents.

Yes you can go to an EB or BB plenty of people have done it. Just network, write a good blurb on your internship, have good technicals, and get a return and you will have a great chance.
