SA28 Recruiting Question

As title says, I'm a non-DEI freshman aiming for the top from a non-target with decent presence on the street. Given now being February what should I be doing now to prep myself for sophomore summer internship interviews and junior summer interviews.

I want to target RX and M&A and I know both will be hard without some factor to make me stand out as a non-target that will make me look as competent as a target student, the only thing I can think of is the sophomore summer internship. So any ideas where I should be looking for soph summer assuming my goal is RX and what I can do now to set myself up for those interviews?

Don't have much advice except maybe start networking (only reason I say this is because people are more likely to refer you the more times you talk to them, and starting now you have a lot of time). Start learning the basics of the three statements, how they connect, and how a change in one affects another. Maybe also get started on learning DCFs and other basic valuation methods.

This is absolutely insane though, the recruiting timeline is seriously messed up

Given the accelerated timeline nowadays, the earlier you start the better -- if you're fully prepped by the end of fresh summer (strong connects + techs) you'll be better suited for recruiting than your peers. Focus on getting an internship for the summer and maybe a search fund/ local part time gig for the fall '26 / this spring.
