This seems to be 2 separate questions bundled into 1.... a SaaS model is just a 3 statement model for a SAAS business, or said another way, a basic 3-statement model with a SaaS operating build.

If you're not already strong at the 3-statement model and basic LBO, focus on those first.

For the SaaS component, you just have to think through the operating metrics: unit growth, price / unit, churn, sales commission, fixed costs, working capital, etc.

To get higher-level cost guidance, you can benchmark the cost profiles of a couple public SaaS companies (check the 10-Ks)

 

That forentrepreneurs article is incredible. Major SB. I've never seen a cleaner explanation from nuts to bolts on budgeting / modelling any industry before.
