Salary Progression Path (Analyst/Associate)
I wanted to get your feedback on the salary progression of analysts/associates in-between promotions (up to a VP position). I'll explain: When taking my current job, my assumption was that analysts and associates would have a steady linear progression in salary up to the point when they would get a promotion. Roughly speaking something like this (I'm talking about base only here): Analyst: 70k (1st y)/ 75k (2nd y)/ 80k (3rd y)/...promotion Associate: 90k (1st y)/ 95k (2nd y) / 100k (3rd y)...eventually promotion to VP
However, this is not how things work at my bank. The bank gives 1.5%-2.0% raises/year across the board, with a substantial increase once you get promoted. This naturally bums be out a little bit and I wanted to get your opinions on whether I should bring this up at my annual review and make the case that my contribution, effort, value add, etc deserve a faster progression in salary.
How would you guys play this hand? (Overall, I am well liked by my bosses and perform above par on a consistent basis).
