Seeking analyst role at lesser known boutique or regional firm (lateral mobility with 3 years experience)

Hello, Recently spoke to a senior banker at a bulge bracket who recommended to aim for lesser known boutiques and regional firms, given the structured nature of IBD. My geographic preference would be cities where COL is decent i.e Charlotte, Atlanta or Houston. But also open to cities like NYC or Boston. Interests are Fintech and M&A. I have reached out to firms in Charlotte and wait for replies. Any recommended staffing firms or IBs to look at? Best,
