Senior Bankers: Do you really care if any junior bankers leave before you?

Now that most of my bank has been forced back to the office there is a lot of pressure to stay late even if analysts have nothing to do. Given that we've had a year of WFH to show that our quality of work doesn't suffer when we work from home vs. at the office, I'm genuinely curious if senior bankers care about the workplace theatre of trying to look busy late into the night.

I wouldn't care if an Analyst was sipping margaritas on a beach somewhere, as long as deliverables are done right and on time. I think a lot of junior bankers have it in their head that senior bankers care about face time but the reality is most seniors don't care, however, that's not to say that there aren't a handful of a-holes in the industry that think face time matters and make junior bankers lives miserable.

Yes, I had to pay my dues and they must too. It just shows me you don’t really want it that badly if you aren’t in the office before I am and after I leave.

Lol, nah i’m kidding can you imagine? In all seriousness though, I assume this is the mentality of the divorced crusty dudes who actually care about Facetime though. People in this industry really don’t like juniors having an easier time than they did because it makes them feel like they went through their garbage experience for nothing.

I don’t but a question like this is pretty useless since there are some seniors who don’t care and some ass holes whose mission in life is to ruin the lives of junior bankers. Just pray that you land in a good group because they do exist.
