Should I delay graduation?

For some context im starting a new college in january where I will be a "sophmore." Im transferring from a large public bschool think UT McCombs/ IU Kelley/ Wisco and im transferring to the bschool of BC/Nova/ND. Since im losing alot of credits in the process of transferring, ill have to do 17/18 credit semesters which could negatively impact my GPA as I adjust socially to my new school. My alternative is to delay my graduation to January '22 or May '22(where I would take off the fall to do an internship or something). I'm struggling to find an internship for this summer, partially because I cant tap into my old college's alumni network or my new college's alumni database although I have talked with alums of my new college in positions im interested in. Is it worth adding some debt(parents dont want to pay for an extra semester) to delay my graduation by a semester so that I can take less credits per semester (hopefully helping me get a better GPA) and set me back a year on the recruiting cycle.? This would effectively be my freshman summer rather than my sophmore summer so that I can better position myself for next years internship opportunities, and rather than having to start recruiting for junior summer internships this spring(when I wont have a GPA) I can delay it to next spring when Ill have a full year of grades. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
