Should I keep pursuing IB or find a different gig due to my situation?
I am an intern at a small boutique but am planning to re-recruit for FT 2026 for an upper MM bank (state school, resume is not crazy so a BB would be a stretch). I recently learned that I will have a little under $2M in a trust set up for after I graduate. Should I keep pursuing IB? Find a new career path? I do not know what to do after finding out this circumstance.
Why not grind ib most optionality then decide
Think it depends on where you live and how you want to live. Personally, $2M is great, but far from enough for me to decide to chill in a cushy job. I also live in a HCOL area where $2M barely buys you anything.
I personally would grind in banking and see where you go from here. The advantage is that if you hate it - you can always walk back knowing you have a cushion.
And if you like it: just imagine what life you could afford with your trust fund in addition to IB "pocket money"
