Sign on bonus as a lateral
Do you typically get a sign on bonus as a lateral? Recently received an offer without one and not sure if I should negotiating that part of the offer letter. Thanks!

I did get signing bonuses every time I moved banks
is it to cover prorated forgone bonus? or relocating cities?
One was to replace a small bonus I was forgoing. Others were just a pure signing bonus.
I got a sign on bonus + relocation bonus that made me whole-ish and they paid back the signing bonus that got clawed back from the bank i left

I received a payback of my previous firm’s signing bonus clawback but nothing more - sadly this is from a top EB whose signing bonus was much more than my previous firm’s. When I inquired they said sign-on bonuses for laterals just aren’t a thing
