Sophomore PE vs IB Internship

What's up all,

I'm a rising sophomore from a semitarget (think Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, UVA) and am about to finish an IB internship at a boutique in NYC.

I want to pursue a PE internship for next summer to diversify my experience from this summer and learn more about the industry and make me a more impressive candidate for junior summer IB/PE. How does a sophomore PE internship compare to a sophomore IB internship? And with that said, how big and notable (AUM ie.) should the PE firm be for that internship to trump the IB one?

Would appreciate any insight.

You are worrying way too much. You are well ahead of your peers and will have really good experience when the time comes for your junior internship, which is the one that really matters.

Do the PE internship. That way when you recruit for banks or PE funds your junior year you can tell the interviewer that you've done both and you identify more with x because of x.
